Welcome to Tag Along Travel

Hi there! I’m Deborah and my spouse travels for work a lot. Sometimes I tag along, which is fab because who doesn’t love to travel? But it’s not always a passport to fun. When I’m grounded at home and he’s away, it can feel like a long layover after the airport bar closes. Join me to find out how to make business travel and marriage work. I recap my favourite travel destinations and adventures while trying to sort out how to enjoy the journey, whether tagging along or not.

The adjustment dance: When a frequent business traveller returns

February 6, 2015|Lifestyle, Recent Posts, Relationships|

People can be odd and I’m certainly one of the oddest. Despite loving to travel and try different things, I’m really into my routine. So I guess it’s not surprising that when Steve returns from weeks of business travel I haven’t tagged along on, I find it a bit … jarring. Even though I miss him when he’s gone. His return home sets me off a touch. […]

You can find a ton of information on the top tourist spots in Istanbul so I’m not going to go into deep detail about the ones we hit, which were the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. Also, the experiences on the street tend to be more interesting to us. Having said that, the tourist spots we visited were all very worthwhile. […]

Solving challenges of business travel with your spouse

December 18, 2014|Lifestyle, Popular Posts, Recent Posts, Relationships, Reviews & Tips|

Tagging along with your significant other on business travel is different than travelling together on vacation. It’s a semi-independent travel experience that requires flexibility and a good dose of understanding. Even after a decade of accompanying Steve on various corporate gigs, I still have to remind myself at times that these two ingredients are key to a positive experience. […]

You’re on vacation and suddenly realize that it’s Aunt Jane’s birthday and you forgot to send her a gift. Or maybe you’re away on business and realize that the haircut you’ve been putting off has caught up to you, but you don’t have time to source a decent stylist who can fit you in. What to do? […]
