Welcome to Tag Along Travel
Hi there! I’m Deborah and my spouse travels for work a lot. Sometimes I tag along, which is fab because who doesn’t love to travel? But it’s not always a passport to fun. When I’m grounded at home and he’s away, it can feel like a long layover after the airport bar closes. Join me to find out how to make business travel and marriage work. I recap my favourite travel destinations and adventures while trying to sort out how to enjoy the journey, whether tagging along or not.

Bought: Briggs & Riley BRX Excursion Laptop Backpack
Just before our trip last month to Washington, D.C., Steve surprised me with an early birthday gift. It was a Briggs & Riley BRX Excursion laptop backpack I had been eyeing at my favourite local travel accessories store, U.N. Luggage. Here’s my review based on my first trip with it. […]
Steve’s top tips for making business travel a breeze
After more than a decade of business travel near and far from home, my frequent flyer husband has learned a thing or two about how to make things go as smoothly as possible. Here are Steve’s top tips. […]
What happens if Air Canada loses your bag but has no record of it
When Steve checked in at London’s Heathrow airport for his recent Air Canada flight home, he decided to check his carry-on bag. It was bulging with the purchase of new shoes (yes, again) and he feared it wouldn’t fit in the overhead bin. When he arrived in Montreal his bag did not. Ok, it happens. But when he went to the lost baggage desk, he was shocked to learn they had no record he had even checked a bag. Now what? […]
Monuments & Museums – Washington D.C. Weekend
The first time I did a tag along trip to D.C. with Steve several years ago, I had low expectations. Big government town, ho hum. But, I was blown away! We took free walking tours, visited the fabulous Smithsonian museums (also free) and enjoyed a few of the best meals we’ve ever had. So, we knew we had to tack on a proper long weekend in the heart of D.C. after the conference Steve was attending, which was at National Harbor, Maryland. […]
Guilty Travel Pleasures
Whether I’m travelling on vacation or tagging along on Steve’s business trips, there are a few indulgences that I have a twinge of guilt/embarrassment about. These guilty travel pleasures are relatively harmless, but I don’t readily reveal them so shhhhh … keep them to yourself. […]

How to get a SIM card in Bengaluru, India
The first thing we do when we arrive in a new city is to embark upon what we have come to call a “SIM Safari.” We both have unlocked iPhones and if it’s not too costly, we both get a SIM card so that we can use our smartphones just as we would at home. It’s usually easy, but getting a SIM card in India was a challenge. […]
Bengaluru Tag Along Trip: Privilege, meet poverty
Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) is a place in transition. Its rapidly soaring tech industry is rising around the city’s fragile infrastructure and a multitude of citizens living in poverty. My tag along trip with Steve, who was teaching a couple of Scrum.org courses there for a week, was an experience of surreal contrasts. […]
Islandhopping Vietnam Highlights: Mekong to Ho Chi Minh City
The last few days of our Islandhopping tour had us in Ho Chi Minh City for a day, then cruising along the Mekong River and cycling through a few villages along the way. We then moved back to Ho Chi Minh City where our tour ended. […]
